Hello all, sorry it's been so long! We've had a bit of a whirlwind time these past few months...
The festival season has come to an end for another year, and as always we've had an amazing time. August saw us travelling to the Brecon Beacons for Greenman Festival, which was by far our favourite! There was such a good vibe, responsive crowds and beautiful surroundings, we will definitely be making a retutn visit next year. We also nipped to Shambala for a day up in Northhampton, which was nothing short of a mudbath! Spirits were high though, and the festival goers were up for a boogie in the rain. The entire season was rounded off at the charming Itchycoo Festival, in deepest darkest Somerset. It too was a mud marathon, but once again all anybody wanted to do was dance, which is just what we like!
We found time between the last few festivals to drop in at The Bell, in Bath, where they've had the great idea of streaming all the bands online, just in case you wanted to be there but couldn't. You can check out our gig over at Ustream: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/16851954
September has been a quieter month...for everyone except Ben... who has become a DAD! Please welcome little Nelly May Sutcliffe into the world! We are all delighted for Ben and his brand new family, and are all confident that she will be a violin virtuoso in a matter of years! Congratulations Ben!
We've got a few interesting things in the pipeline for the next few months, so watch this space and as always check out the Facebook and Twitter for media and other updates!

Just a little update from Camp Strings, unfortunately we've had to pull a few dates from the gig calender. The Bollingey in Perranporth has been cancelled and it is with regret we have to pull our gigs at Mannifest and Bestival. Apologies to anyone who was looking forward to seeing us but we'll be back.
On the plus we had a couple of dates down in Cornwall this weekend and both gigs were awesome. We really enjoyed ourselves and got a lot of people dancing, fun was had by all. We also received a little bit of local press coverage as well which is always welcome, check it out here; http://www.cornwallcommunitynews.co.uk/2011/07/31/the-home-of-the-strings/
Also there are a few new pics up in the gallery from our recent gigs at Secret Garden Party, have a goose!

It's been a good week for the Strings. We had a great gig at the start of the last weekend which was exactly what we needed after a week off, next we played Woolley festival and went down a storm! I think there's even some fan footage of it on YouTube. We then took 5 days off from gigs to rehearse and write new material for the next album which went so well we decided to play the brand new tune at both of our gigs at Secret Garden Party yesterday! A big thanks to everyone who came to see us at Chai Wallahs and Small World stages, we had a blast and it was lovely to see some Cornish faces there too. :) We've got a couple of dates down in Kernow next which is always a pleasure, hope to see some of you there.

Hello Stringers! So here is the first PSF blog post as part of the new and improved PSF website, we hope you like the changes. Weve had a really busy summer so far with gigs and festivals all over the UK and Ireland, (thats right, were taking it international!), most of the band moved up to the West Country and many other exciting thing besides. The band recently got back from Glastonbury, and we had an awesome time! We managed to play 6 gigs in all on a variety of stages, saw some great music and met some brilliant people. But more on this to come, for now I'm going to get back to getting the website up to scratch but stay tuned for more PSF news. Chris

Making Waves
The debut album 'Making Waves' is a concept album with various styles of Roots and Modern influences glued together with an intricate and expressive violin section. The result is the story/fable of a single wave (made from a falling leaf) and it's journey towards the sea. The Peoples String Foundation is inspired; by the people they meet, the experiences of life on the road, and the global theatre of the present day, and their mission is clear.....
To make the first wave......

About Us
The South West of England is the appropriate home for the beautifully evocative, languid and lush music of The People'’s String Foundation. Theirs is unfamiliar territory, scaling the heights of jazz, hip-hop beat-work, Middle Eastern melodies- performed with an eye toward experimentation and nods toward the avant-garde. The brainchild of multi-instrumentalist and jazz singer Ben Sutcliffe and world/blues guitarist Zaid Al-Rabiki- the duo combine to wonderful songwriting effect but it’s in their live performances that the group combine, enlisting the assistance of a troupe of inspired musicians.
The debut album 'Making Waves' is a concept album with various styles of Roots and Modern influences glued together with an intricate and expressive violin section. The result is the story/fable of a single wave (made from a falling leaf) and it's journey towards the sea. The People's String Foundation is inspired by the people they meet, the experiences of life on the road, and the global theatre of the present day.
The People’'s String Foundation are a true community- their live band changes and flows depending on when and where they are at that moment, but these are songs built for recital and reinterpretation. The band includes the distinct, soulful lows of Chris Jones on electric and double bass, the pristine and effortless beats of Harry Harding on drums, Cuban inspired bassoonist Beth Hutchins and features fiddler-extraordinaire Clare Tomlinson. Clare's earthy and spiritual gypsy-jazz violin work contrasts majestically with Ben's more classical upbringing, lending the arrangements a sense of the fantastic and grandiose.
Their memorable live shows encompass the uniqueness of 'that moment, that gig'. The band performed extensively throughout 2010 and toured on the Chai Wallahs festival stage circuit, treating festival audiences country-wide to their folksy, jazz, beat-infused music. The People's String Foundation are touring again this summer and playing Chai Wallahs "The Diplomats of Sound" stage across the UK festival circuit.
The PSF are:
